Let's be honest, we've all worn a mask at some point. Smiling when we don't feel like it, smoothing things over to fit in better, playing a role that isn't really ours... Gemma Schito, barely 14 years old, has put words and a melody to all of this, and the result is genuinely striking. « Mask » examines that constant tension between what we truly feel and what we choose to project to the world, with a maturity that would put many more seasoned songwriters to shame. The video, directed by Vincenzo Pipitone, plays cleverly with visual contrasts and is really worth a watch, we'll let you discover it for yourselves.
Gemma Schito: The future belongs to those who write early
What is fascinating about Gemma is that she doesn't just have talent, she knows exactly where she is heading. Trained at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, she juggles classes, rehearsals, and songwriting every day with a discipline that commands respect. Her universe shifts between intimate ballads and pop-rock outbursts, always fuelled by authentic personal experiences, whether the turbulence of friendship or the challenge of growing up between two cultures. And it is paying off: « Mask » has already secured a place in the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition 2025, one of the most selective competitions in the world. This is clearly just the beginning for an artist building her universe with an already well-grounded artistic vision, patient and ambitious in equal measure. Gemma Schito's trajectory is set, and she clearly has no intention of slowing down.
