Dark Joseph Ravine’s Biography: A Toronto Artist Between Music, Entrepreneurship and Positive Messages

Share:

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Dark Joseph Ravine, whose real name is Joseph Levy Cohen, is a Canadian artist with a particularly eclectic background. Singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, content creator and media personality, he has built his world around an idea that consistently appears throughout his different projects: using his creativity to help, inspire and encourage others to become better people.

His relationship with music began in 2013, when he started singing. Between 2014 and 2019, he took singing lessons to develop his vocal abilities and also began writing his own material. At the time, however, music remained more of a passion than a genuine career. His parents themselves were not particularly convinced that singing was his true calling.

At the same time, Joseph Levy Cohen studied philosophy at the University of Western Ontario, where he attended between 2013 and 2015. His studies added another dimension to a personality already deeply interested in human behavior, values and broader questions about society.

From “Dark Joe” to Dark Joseph Ravine

Between 2020 and 2025, Dark Joseph Ravine decided to step away from music. But this period was far from inactive.

He launched The Dark Joseph Ravine Show, a program focused on different people and businesses. Among the guests were Tracy Lamourie and Laura Smith, who each appeared in an episode.

In 2025, Dark Joseph Ravine decided to evolve the concept and transform the show into a game show, giving participants the opportunity to win cash prizes. One episode featured Georgette Flamm.

Despite the new direction, the program ultimately failed to attract enough public interest, and Dark Joseph Ravine decided to end the show in 2025.

The experience nevertheless reflects an important characteristic of his career: his constant willingness to experiment with new formats and create his own opportunities rather than simply waiting for them to come along

Entrepreneurship as a Second Driving Force

Dark Joseph Ravine's interest in advertising and marketing did not appear overnight. He became seriously interested in the field as early as 2018, before turning that passion into a professional activity.

In 2024, he founded Focus Five Group, a marketing agency that he continues to operate today.

Entrepreneurship has since become an important part of his daily life. Dark Joseph Ravine explains that he continues to balance multiple jobs alongside his artistic projects. For him, having a “backup job” while pursuing a dream isn't a sign of giving up. On the contrary, he sees it as a way of giving a creative project the time and resources it needs to grow.

That philosophy sums up his vision of success quite well: he doesn't necessarily believe in following one single, linear path.

2026: A Serious Return to Music

After several years away from music, 2026 marks a genuine turning point.

Dark Joseph Ravine decided to return to singing and songwriting with much greater commitment. The material he had already begun writing between 2013 and 2019 suddenly took on a new dimension, while his new compositions became a way of expressing beliefs that appear to be deeply rooted in his personality.

His music isn't simply intended to entertain. It regularly carries messages connected to motivation, kindness, empathy and the way human beings interact with one another.

That direction is particularly clear in “B-B-O-B (Behavior Based On Benefit),” one of his latest releases.

“B-B-O-B”: When Music Becomes a Message

With “B-B-O-B (Behavior Based On Benefit),” Dark Joseph Ravine explores a society in which human relationships can sometimes become highly calculated.

Why help someone? Why be kind? Why build a relationship? And most importantly: what do I get out of it?

The song challenges that mindset and instead advocates a form of selfless generosity. Its central idea is simple: some of the best things in life shouldn't need a price or something in return.

The track therefore expresses a philosophy that Dark Joseph Ravine wants to communicate through his work: helping others without always expecting something in return.

This desire to spread a positive message also extends beyond music. The artist says he hopes his work can encourage people to become more of what he describes as “helpers” and “givers” , people who are willing to support those who genuinely need it.

An Artist Deeply Connected to His Beliefs

Faith also plays an important role in his worldview. Dark Joseph Ravine describes himself as a strong believer in God and considers faith to be one of the foundations of his life.

When asked what advice he would give to the younger generation, his answer centers around several values: believing in God, believing in yourself, working hard, making smart choices and, above all, helping others.

He often refers to a quote from Kim Kardashian that, in his view, perfectly captures this philosophy: “Life is never about you, it’s about helping as many people as you can.”

A vision that directly connects with the message behind his music.

A Career That Goes Far Beyond Music

Reducing Dark Joseph Ravine to his music career would therefore be difficult.

Over the years, he has built a career across several different fields: music, writing, television, marketing, entrepreneurship and content creation.

He is also the author of “Watch Out! It’s Nolan!”, a children's book addressing school bullying and promoting values such as courage, kindness and resilience.

His career also includes a more unusual achievement: he holds a Guinness World Record for the longest line of arcade tickets.

All of these experiences contribute to an unusually diverse artistic profile that of a creator who doesn't seem interested in limiting himself to a single discipline.

The Ambition to Help Through Music

For Dark Joseph Ravine, music now appears to be a natural extension of everything he has done before.

He has made no secret of his ambition to release more motivational and positive songs, particularly from 2027 onward. His goal isn't simply to develop his career as an artist, but also to create songs capable of reaching people and encouraging them.

When asked which artist he would like to collaborate with one day, he names Demi Lovato, partly because of their shared experiences with depression and mental health.

That desire to create around human and personal subjects seems perfectly consistent with the direction he wants to give his project.

A Private Life Kept Deliberately Private

Despite his presence across several public fields, Dark Joseph Ravine remains relatively private when it comes to his personal life.

He has revealed that he was close to getting married, but unfortunately, the relationship ultimately did not work out. He has nevertheless made it clear that he still wants to get married and start a family in the future, naming marriage among his personal goals for 2027.

That discretion contrasts with his highly diverse professional life. He seems to prefer letting his projects speak for themselves rather than constantly putting his private life in the spotlight.

“Never Give Up on Your Humanity”

If Dark Joseph Ravine's philosophy could ultimately be summarized in just a few words, perhaps these would be the most appropriate: never give up on your humanity.

The artist says he wants to remain a good person regardless of what he goes through or how much pain he may experience.

That belief appears to be the real common thread running through his journey. Whether he talks about music, entrepreneurship, television, writing or simply his outlook on life, Dark Joseph Ravine repeatedly comes back to the same idea: we all have the ability to make a positive impact on other people.

And that is perhaps what makes his journey particularly interesting. This isn't the story of an artist who followed a perfectly defined path from the beginning. It's the story of a creator who tried different things, took breaks, launched projects, changed direction and continued moving forward.

Today, in 2026, Dark Joseph Ravine seems to have found in music a new way of bringing all those experiences together.

With songs such as “B-B-O-B (Behavior Based On Benefit),” more motivational projects on the horizon and a clear desire to keep creating, his next chapter may only just be beginning.
